Production Engineer

Our client is a successful manufacturer who are committed to ongoing investment and a flexible approach to manufacturing. They continuously develop new products to meet the ever-changing needs of their customers and market trends.

They are searching for an engineer with mechanical and electrical experience to join their current team.

Key Responsibilities

  • With a hands-on approach carry out day-to-day engineering tasks, in a timely manner to ensure that completion of tasks enable production to meet customer needs.
  • Assist with and participate in production system improvements for continuous improvement.
  • Assist with conducting root cause analysis and implementing corrective actions to prevent recurrence of issues.
  • Assist with working directly with supply chains to overcome obsolescence and shortages by offering alternative solutions.
  • Assist with the delivery of a preventive maintenance program.
  • Support, the team lead in the creation of reports to support any potential investment in new machinery and equipment.
  • To continuously look at current industry trends and best practice in manufacturing technology and process optimisation.
  • Make sure that equipment and machinery is well placed to respond to market demand and opportunities.
  • Assist with the technical training of operational staff across all areas of the business.
  • With the team lead work in closely with purchasing to define, establish and maintain cost effective service level agreements and contracts with external suppliers regarding all engineering services and supplies.
  • Assist with the installation, commissioning, repair, and re-assembly of critical equipment.
  • Assist the team lead in ensuring the quality of the maintenance work carried out by contractors.
  • Assist with the development of operating instructions and troubleshooting guides for processes, machines and equipment.
  • Make sure that engineering processes comply with ethical and legislative standards.

Skills required

  • Possess engineering qualifications and/or qualified through proven experience
  • Possesses strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively.
  • Excellent knowledge of engineering functions and procedures.
  • A practical and logical approach to problem solving, often under time pressure constraints.
  • Team working and people management skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft, excel, word, outlook and PowerPoint.
  • Knowledge of ISO would be an advantage.
  • Ability to work well under pressure and take on new challenges.
  • Excellent organisational and time management skills.
  • Possess commercial awareness, project management skills and the ability to work to tight deadlines.
  • Ability to work on own initiative and be adaptable.
  • Ability to build strong working relationships with other department Team Leaders, Supervisors & Managers.
  • To understand and follow a high level of Health and Safety legislation.
  • Possess diplomacy and strength in character to deliver business expectation and where necessary change working dynamics to achieve and improve operational efficiency.
  • Excellent attention to detail.

Working environment

  • As part of the role, you will be required to take part in an on-call rota system, and you may be required to travel to other locations on behalf of the Company.
  • Duties will entail working in internal environment throughout the year.
  • Majority of tasks will require you to be physically fit and operate with the highest level of concentration as there will be periods of walking, bending, heavy lifting, working at low- and high-level heights and working with electrical components/control panels.
  • Hours spent whilst on company premises will involve spending time with all types of equipment and machinery.
  • Working in a manufacturing environment. (of which the noise levels will vary and due to the nature of products made you will unavoidably encounter dust and plastic materials)
  • Whilst the environment is well ventilated, due to the nature of products manufactured, the environment can experience unavoidable marked changes in temperature.
  • All duties are carried out in an elevated position, so there will be prolonged periods of standing.
  • Must be able to wear all appropriate PPE.
