SEMH Teaching Assistant - Bolton

Prospero Teaching are looking for a Teaching Assistant with SEMH experience to work in a 'Good' Secondary School in Bolton. This position is to start from ASAP and will be ongoing for the whole of the academic year until July 2023.

This position will be ideal for a teaching assistant with SEMH experience who is looking to gain some more experience in a special provision.

You will be working with small groups or perhaps on a 121-basis working with pupils. There are suits specially targeted at the needs of the individuals making sure the school is tailored to them. It is essential that you can commit to the role in its entirety for the benefit of the students you will be supporting. The students benefit from a calm and welcoming environment. Students are learning to take responsibility for their actions and are keen to meet the high expectations that staff set for both their learning behaviour.

This is a 'Good' school and the staff are highly ambitious for all the pupils, helping them reach further than they first thought they could. The students feel safe and happy when they walk around the school because the behaviour is calm and focused on learning. The students believe there is a strong amount of trust between them and the staff, as they believe the staff listen and action any issues. Pupils enjoy the range of school clubs on offer, including numerous sports and performance opportunities. They particularly enjoy representing the school in local debating team competitions.

Experience, Training and qualifications:

  • Experience working with students with SEMH
  • GCSE English and Maths grade 'C' or '4' & above
  • Up to date Safeguarding training issued in the last year (essential, however, training can be provided)
  • Up to date Prevent training issued in the last 3 years (essential, however training can be provided)
  • Up to date behaviour management & FGM training (essential, however training can be provided)

To be eligible you must have/be:

  • Hold Right to Work in the UK
  • Hold an enhanced DBS certificate registered with the online update service or be willing to process a new application
  • Provide a minimum of two references covering the last 2 years
