Service Management Delivery Consultant - Outside IR35

Inspire People is seeking a Service Management Consultant with current government security clearance of SC or above to play a key role in supporting and guiding a Public Sector client to successful implementation of a new technology capability, developed to embed the service management wrapper into a BAU capability and improve service maturity. £550 to £600 per day Outside IR35 expected to run from July 2024 to March 2025 and may continue into the next financial year. Remote working with occasional travel to London or Birmingham (2 to 3 times a month).

This is a great opportunity to work on a significant government initiative which aims to streamline access across multiple government sites and departments and shape and embed service management processes in a relatively immature organisation.

The successful individual will thrive under pressure, be a strategic thinker and be willing to get their hands dirty to help get the job done. Lateral thinking outside of the box, positive challenge, and ability to bring simple pragmatic solutions to complex challenges will be welcome. Excellent written and oral communication skills with an ability to present complex ideas succinctly and clearly up to C suite level are essential.

Key Functions of the Service Management Delivery Consultant:

  • Formulate and define scope and objectives to embed service management within the client organisation.
  • Support contracting and provisioning of services to a wide and diverse stakeholder base.
  • Ensure quality guidelines and procedures are consistently provided to client sites and support embedding of these.
  • Develop simple solutions to enhance the overall operational service management system.
  • Engage with stakeholders, to ensure functional, non-functional and user requirements are captured and are addressed.
  • Validate the service management wrapper to ensure it maps to the business needs, it is approved by appropriate stakeholders and meets with required quality standards.
  • Identify problems and areas for improvement and optimisation with the current business model and where appropriate support design of a target operating model.
  • Design potential solutions or improvements to business change problems.
  • Document and report findings with associated risk and change impact assessments.
  • Communicate insights and plans to team members, client management and stakeholders.
  • Design and run training sessions and workshops to support relevant teams.
  • Ensure end-to-end (E2E) service management test cases for user acceptance address business needs.
  • Enable and support the change required to embed approved process improvements.
  • Support programme and project implementation and transition to business as usual.

Essential Skills required of the Service Management Delivery Consultant:

  • Strong service management expertise, including understanding of ITIL frameworks and ability to design appropriate service wrappers
  • Excellent communication and briefing skills, with the ability to explain complex concepts succinctly to non-technical stakeholders
  • Flexibility and adaptability to work with existing processes and systems rather than trying to reinvent everything
  • Strong stakeholder engagement and people skills to navigate complex organisational dynamics
  • Experience embedding service management processes operationally within organisations
  • Current UK SC security clearance.
