It takes a community to help with this issue which is why I am posting this job advert for people who can communicate with the secondary-age pupils who are close to them and ideally guide them into further education.

We have an exciting opportunity for you to join our team as a Pastoral Assistant and Mentor in Southwest London.
Key Responsibilities:
- Student Support:

Provide one-on-one and group mentoring to students, fostering a positive and inclusive environment.

Assist in the identification and resolution of students' personal and social challenges.

Support students in developing essential life skills and coping mechanisms.
- Behavioral Intervention:

Collaborate with teachers and other staff members to address and manage student behavior.

Implement strategies to promote a positive and respectful school culture.

Act as a mediator in conflict resolution situations.
- Parental Engagement:

Maintain open communication with parents or guardians regarding students' progress and well-being.

Organize and participate in parent meetings or workshops related to pastoral care.
- Record Keeping:

Keep accurate and up-to-date records of interactions and interventions with students.

Compile reports on the progress and challenges of mentored students.
- Collaboration:

Work closely with the school's pastoral team to implement effective strategies for student support.

Collaborate with teachers and other stakeholders to ensure a holistic approach to student development.
Qualifications and Skills:
- Minimum of a bachelor's degree in psychology, counselling, education, or a related field.
- Previous experience working in a pastoral or mentoring role within a secondary school setting is preferred.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Empathetic and compassionate with a genuine interest in the well-being of students.
- Ability to work collaboratively with a diverse team.
