Urgently seeking School Finance Assistant Temp to Perm
- Annual Salary: £28,000 - £32,000 ( £14 -15.30/hr)

- Job Type: Full-time (52 weeks) office based Mon - Fri 8.30am - 5pm with 30 mins lunch ( 40hrs a week)
An excellent opportunity has arisen for a Finance Assistant to join the Finance team within a group of four schools in West London. The successful candidate will report to the Finance Manager and play a crucial role in the administration and maintenance of the sales ledger, fee collection, and other finance-related activities. Experience in a school environment is desirable but not essential.
Day-to-day of the role:
- Prepare, maintain, and communicate reliable financial information.
- Produce termly invoices and act as the school lead for the Early Years Funding Scheme.
- Calculate and process monthly and termly direct debit collections.
- Communicate with parents regarding fee payments and respond to queries.
- Administer the processing and certification of purchase invoices and filing.
- Reconcile supplier statements to ensure all liabilities are recorded.
- Serve as a contact for general finance queries and liaise with parents, suppliers, and contractors.
- Complete month-end procedures and manage balance sheet areas such as fixed assets, accruals, and prepayments.
- Manage end-of-school-year activities, including processing joiners and leavers and refunding deposits.
- Assist the Group Finance Manager with annual accounts, schedules for audit, and liaising with auditors.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
- Must have a clean DBS.
- Experience in a similar billing ledger, credit control, and purchase ledger clerk role.
- Educated to GCSE or A level standard.
- Bookkeeping or AAT qualification is desirable.
- Experience with SAGE or other accounting systems is advantageous.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel and Word.
- Numerate with attention to detail and analytical skills.
- Excellent communication skills, both oral and written.
- Effective team player with good organisational skills.
- Understanding of the need for confidentiality.
- Ability to work under pressure and with minimum supervision.
- Good interpersonal skills to relate to children, adults, and parents.
