Senior Underwriter - Property & Casualty (P&C) - Midlands (Remote Options Available)
Salary: £40,000 - £60 ,000 + Bonus
Location: Midlands with requirement to attend Birmingham office once a week
The Company:
We are seeking an experienced Senior Property and Casualty (P&C) Underwriter to join our client's Risk Managed Commercial team. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record in underwriting P&C risks, with at least 4 years of experience in property casualty trading. This role offers an excellent opportunity to contribute to business growth while maintaining and managing both new and existing accounts.
The Role:
As a Senior Underwriter, you will manage a portfolio of P&C accounts, focusing on renewals, rating, and adjustments, while seeking new business opportunities. You'll be responsible for technical claim cover requests and ensuring compliance with delegated authority. Working closely with brokers and internal teams, you will review referrals from junior underwriters, providing guidance and expertise to ensure the best outcomes.
A key aspect of this role is to train and mentor junior team members while interpreting and analyzing data to generate actionable reports that improve business performance. Your expertise will be critical in making informed decisions and driving the profitability of the portfolio.
Responsibilities:
- Underwrite new and renewal P&C accounts, ensuring risk assessments and pricing align with business objectives.
- Liaise with brokers and internal stakeholders to address rating, adjustments, and claim cover requests.
- Mentor junior underwriters and provide support in reviewing and assessing complex referrals.
- Explore new business opportunities and collaborate with the sales team to drive growth.
- Analyze data to produce insightful reports that enhance underwriting decisions.
- Maintain a strong understanding of coverage terms, and ensure compliance with delegated authority.
Requirements:
- CII/Dip CII qualified, with A-Level education or equivalent.
- A minimum of 4 years of experience in property and casualty underwriting, ideally at a senior level.
- Demonstrable expertise in underwriting P&C risks and managing complex claims.
- Strong communication, negotiation, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to plan, prioritize, and manage both renewal portfolios and new business opportunities.
- Detail-oriented with strong analytical skills and the ability to train and mentor junior staff.
- Must be able to attend the Birmingham office once a week.
