Position: Senior Embedded Software Engineer

Salary: up to £65,000

Location of office: Crewe

Location of work: Hybrid WFH - On average 2 days a week onsite.

A new position has now been created for a Senior Embedded Software Engineer to join our clients engineering team, their office is in the Crewe area, and they work to a flexible hybrid work from home model. You will be the senior engineer within the team, have the chance to be involved throughout the full design life cycle and lead firmware developments.

Required Skills and Experience:

  • Embedded C and C++ programming
  • Bare Metal or RTOS
  • Experience coding to regulated standards e.g. MISRA
  • Full software development life cycle experience

Our client designs and manufactures safety critical electronic products for the transportation sector. They have an exciting roadmap of projects ahead of them, some of which are complete redesigns of successful products that they want to integrate modern technology within to make them 'smart'.

Although you will be joining a large stable company, you will be working within a small multidisciplined R&D team where you will see developments from start to manufacture.

You will be the Senior Embedded Software Engineer on the team who will lead the firmware development. There will be opportunity to hire into the team as well as working with contractor resource when projects require it. They are looking to develop innovative products so looking for an experienced engineer who has a track record of solving complex problems and producing clean, reliable software solutions.

Some of the legacy projects are programmed in Embedded C, whereas the newer projects are using C++ on Bare Metal. So, you will ideally be comfortable with both C++ and C programming and have worked in bare metal and RTOS environMents. Whilst experience coding to industry standards such as MISRA will make your CV standout.

Desirable Skills and Experience:

  • Safety Critical industry experience or programming to Safety Critical coding standards
  • Experience with software verification or validation processes
