We are seeking a dedicated SEN Teaching Assistant to join a secondary SEN school in Wakefield. The school caters to pupils with a range of additional needs, including ASD, speech and communication challenges, and behavioural needs. This role is ideal for an individual with a passion for supporting students with special educational needs to reach their full potential.

Day-to-day of the role:

  • Provide tailored support to students with ASD, speech and communication challenges, and behavioural needs.
  • Work closely with the teaching staff to implement individual education plans (IEPs).
  • Assist in the development of social skills and positive behaviour management.
  • Facilitate inclusive learning experiences and adapt resources to meet the diverse needs of students.
  • Encourage students' independence and self-confidence through supportive interactions.
  • Monitor and report on the progress of students to teachers and parents/guardians.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • Proven experience as an SEN Teaching Assistant or in a similar role within an SEN setting.
  • Understanding of the challenges faced by students with ASD, speech and communication challenges, and behavioural needs.
  • Ability to build rapport with students and work effectively within a team.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Commitment to inclusive education and safeguarding best practices.
