SEN Teaching Assistant

We are seeking a dedicated SEN Teaching Assistant to join a secondary SEN school in Wakefield. The school caters to pupils with a range of additional needs, including ASD, speech and communication challenges, and behavioural needs. This role is ideal for an individual with a passion for supporting students with special educational needs to reach their full potential.
Day-to-day of the role:
- Provide tailored support to students with ASD, speech and communication challenges, and behavioural needs.
- Work closely with the teaching staff to implement individual education plans (IEPs).
- Assist in the development of social skills and positive behaviour management.
- Facilitate inclusive learning experiences and adapt resources to meet the diverse needs of students.
- Encourage students' independence and self-confidence through supportive interactions.
- Monitor and report on the progress of students to teachers and parents/guardians.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
- Proven experience as an SEN Teaching Assistant or in a similar role within an SEN setting.
- Understanding of the challenges faced by students with ASD, speech and communication challenges, and behavioural needs.
- Ability to build rapport with students and work effectively within a team.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Commitment to inclusive education and safeguarding best practices.
