A fantastic opportunity has emerged for a Tenants & Engagement Officer to join one of Adecco's clients on a permanent contract. This a full time role based in South London (Monday to Friday 28hrs (4 or 5 days a week) with HYBRID WORKING

INTERVIEWS ASAP - SALARY £24,000 - £26,875 (Depending on Experience)

Overall purpose of the job

Collaborate with the Welfare and Support Officer to develop a programme of social and physical activities for tenants at four extra care sites and five sheltered housing sites, primarily for older people.

  1. Engage with tenants to understand their needs and aspirations, providing inclusive activities to stimulate them, tackle social isolation, and promote wellbeing.
  2. Uphold a philosophy of privacy, dignity, independence, choice, rights, and fulfillment for tenants.
  3. Report to the Head of Housing, Care & Support on the impact of activities on tenant wellbeing.
  4. Support individual site-based Tenant Meetings and the bi-monthly Tenant Panel meeting, working with the Head of Housing, Care & Support to facilitate tenant influence, shaping, and scrutiny of services.
  5. Collect data to measure tenant engagement performance against Regulator for Social Housing (RSH) consumer standards.
  6. Support volunteering opportunities for tenants and external volunteers in collaboration with the Head of Housing, Care & Support.

Key Responsibilities:

Activities for tenants

  • To develop a program that ensures the provision of social and physical activities across sites, enabling tenants to lead and influence the type of activities provided to meet their needs and respect their aspirations.
  • To organise tailored and inclusive activities to meet the needs and abilities of individuals, including those living with dementia, as well as group activities that will bring individuals together and tackle social isolation.
  • Activities should include trips into the local community, which must be robustly planned considering transport arrangements and accessibility.
  • Ensure all activities are well publicised and promoted in a way that reaches the harder-to-engage tenants.
  • With the support of the Head of Housing, Care & Support, identify risks and undertake risk assessments to ensure the health and safety of tenants is considered in the planning of all activities.

Learning and Development

  • Actively engage in self-development and relevant training to enhance performance management. Participate in an annual individual appraisal and supervision performance review, and take responsibility for maintaining a record of your personal and professional development.

Person specification:

Essential Qualifications and Experience

  • Willingness to travel across the London Borough of Croydon and to & sites in West Sussex.
  • Flexible and willing to work evening and weekends on occasions to enable the delivery of activities and/or tenant meetings, although this will be kept to a minimum.
  • Experience or knowledge of how to work with older people, particularly those with vulnerabilities and an understanding of the challenges they may face, including living with Dementia.
  • Experience or knowledge of how to provide creative and engaging activities.
  • Experience of working in partnership with other agencies, charities and activities providers.
  • Understanding of Health and Safety and of safeguarding practices.
  • Knowledge and understanding of social housing or experience of working in the statutory or voluntary sector.

Competencies

The tenants and engagement officer is expected to demonstrate a high level of proficiency in these areas:

  • Creative and compassionate approach to working with tenants, especially vulnerable older people, always providing a caring, customer focused service.
  • Effective communications skills, both oral and in writing.
  • IT literate, able to take minutes, produce brief reports, produce materials to promote activities, keep accurate records.
  • Able to competently prioritise workload and deliver key responsibilities, and to work independently, professionally and be flexible.
  • Ability to deal sensitively with tenant needs and maintain confidentiality at all times.
  • Willingness to undertake further training as identified as required for the role.
