Site Engineer

Job Description:

As a Site Engineer for our large water civils project in Devon, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring the successful execution of the project. Your responsibilities will encompass precise surveying, quality control, health and safety compliance, and effective project coordination. This is a long term freelance role.

**OUTSIDE IR35 - No CIS

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Surveying and Setting Out: Utilize advanced surveying equipment to establish accurate measurements, set out project elements, and control dimensional aspects of the construction.
  2. Quality Assurance: Monitor and maintain the quality of work to ensure it complies with project specifications, industry standards, and safety regulations.
  3. Health and Safety: Champion a culture of safety on the project site, implementing and enforcing health and safety procedures to protect all personnel.
  4. Material Control: Oversee the procurement, handling, and storage of construction materials, ensuring timely delivery and proper usage.
  5. Progress Reporting: Keep detailed records of daily activities, prepare progress reports, and communicate effectively with the project manager and other team members.
  6. Problem Solving: Identify and address technical challenges, and work proactively to find efficient and effective solutions to keep the project on track.
  7. Coordination: Collaborate with subcontractors, suppliers, and local authorities to ensure efficient and seamless project execution.
  8. Documentation: Maintain and organize project documentation, including drawings, plans, and as-built records.
  9. Cost Control: Assist in monitoring project costs and resource allocation to ensure the project remains within budget.

Qualifications and Requirements:

  1. Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or a related field.
  2. Demonstrated experience as a Site Engineer, preferably in large heavy civils projects.
  3. Proficiency in using advanced surveying equipment and relevant software.
  4. In-depth knowledge of heavy civil engineering construction methods, materials, and quality standards.
  5. Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
  6. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  7. Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team.
  8. Familiarity with health and safety regulations in the construction industry.
