We are growing and evolving at pace - and we are looking to increase our team by appointing an additional high-calibre, mature, professional and experienced Trade Counter Sales Executive

Job Purpose

You will be customer-facing on our busy trade counter providing outstanding service and support to both existing trade customers and fresh retail customers visiting our newly fitted showroom. As part of a team, you will contribute to increasing sales by generating and following up on leads. Accuracy is essential to ensure we meet the needs of the customer when processing sales, providing precise pricing, ensuring stock requirements, and arranging deliveries. We like to exceed customer expectations, so communication skills and effective customer account management skills are essential.

Accountable to the Trade Counter Team Leader your Key Responsibilities will include:

  • Account management activities to ensure that we continue to offer existing customers exceptional service via our trade counter and/or delivery service
  • Key account management of existing clients to increase spending and loyalty to Plumbing World
  • Ensuring quotations, invoicing and paperwork are accurate and up to date
  • Developing new customer relationships via the trade counter, telephone, and external sales - optimising sales opportunities, upselling where possible, profitability and customer satisfaction
  • Provide a quality service to retail customers visiting the showroom, giving advice and guidance in planning their projects.
  • Be well versed in the products to effectively answer and assist customers.
  • Prospect for new accounts and respond to leads from trade customers.
  • To come up with ideas for marketing and promotions to bring new customers into the branch and drive-up spending from existing customers
  • Plan and implement shop merchandising, layout and customer traffic to maximise sales, customer satisfaction, image and appearance of the branch
  • Ensuring the branch and trade counter is tidy and provide a welcoming and efficient space for customers and staff
  • Identify and suggest ways to improve efficiencies, improve profits and drive down costs to the business
  • To support and help colleagues from the trade counter, wholesale, Internet Sales and warehouse when required.
  • Full understanding and compliance with the Health and Safety Policy and Business Processes
  • Act as an Ambassador for the Company at all times
  • Any other duties commensurate with the post

Person Specification:

  • Experience in the Industry with extensive product knowledge with a willingness to maintain up-to-date product and industry knowledge.
  • Physically fit as this role requires periods of standing and manual handling of large products.
  • Strong organisational, planning and time management skills
  • Excellent communication skills with a will to exceed customer expectation
  • Good negotiating skills
  • A confident and determined approach
  • Resilience - and the ability to cope with rejection
  • Self-motivation and drive
  • A competitive streak
  • Good Business Sense (acumen). Being business savvy and commercially aware
  • Helpful manner and can-do attitude
  • Good telephone manner
  • Kitchen sales and design experience desirable
  • A desire to continuously undertake learning to maximise knowledge and skills to improve performance within the workplace by developing self. Salary negotiable dependent on experience.
