Maintenance Operative

1. Job Purpose

Reporting to the Maintenance, Incident Response and Fleet lead, the Maintenance operative will carry out a variety of maintenance duties as instructed on a day-to-day basis to ensure the efficient running of the Project Facilities. Support Incident management crews when required. This is a very dynamic role where cyclical activities will be combined with reactive responses as and when required.

2. Tasks/Responsibilities as follows:

  • Carry out highway maintenance duties as instructed. Including winter maintenance when appropriate.
  • Respond promptly to incidents on the network as instructed supporting the Incident Response Team.
  • Install and maintain physical emergency traffic management in accordance with legislative requirements and as outlined within the safe system of work (SSOW).
  • Work in close cooperation with team members and subcontractors, contributing to the maintenance of a safe and healthy working environment for both customers and workforce by ensuring compliance with all H&S procedures
  • Contribute to the promotion of customer care by working closely with team members to ensure client and network customers are dealt with politely and courteously.
  • When trained to do so, operate a variety of plant and equipment in order to carry out required duties effectively. Assist with ensuring that site and company equipment is secure at all times. Raise problems/queries with the designated supervisor.
  • Responsibility for recording daily activities. Input maintenance activities within the Asset Management System.
  • Carry out daily defect reports on vehicles and ensure vehicles are maintained in good order.
  • Actively promote Health and Safety in the workplace, setting a good example to other employees and ensuring awareness of and compliance with general Health and Safety responsibilities as set out in the Health and Safety Management System.
  • Storage room management and inventory tracking, including accurately record all incoming and outgoing materials (item description, quantity, location, and the name of the individual responsible for the transaction).
  • Conduct regular physical audits of the storage room inventory to ensure the recorded data matches the actual stock levels.
  • Perform other duties as may from time to time be reasonably required.

3. Typical Skills/Experience as follows:

  • 12ab/d Lantra traffic management trained.
  • LGV driving licence group "C" minimum.
  • Asset Management Awareness – operational level required.
  • Experience and knowledge of strict H&S operations and its practical implications.
  • Ability to work using own initiative and as part of a team.
  • Valid CSCS card.
