This role is ideal if you have previous experience within a nursery, care setting or any previous experience with SEN.

A primary school, in Worthing, that specialises within SEN is searching for a compassionate Individual Support Assistant to support pupils with complex learning needs. This setting caters for 221 students between the ages of 4-11 and, provides teaching strategies to appropriate to each individuals learning and, social needs. You will make a key difference in the progress of the students cognition learning, communication, sensory and physical development, and social, emotional and mental health development.

They are based upon values that nurtures each child's individual needs, fostering a love for learning and, personal growth in all aspects of their development and offers a range of therapeutic methods.

Responsibilities of a Individual Support Assistant:

  • Provide 1:1 support to a child with additional needs and, help students understand instructions.
  • Assist in implementing individual learning and, support plans.
  • Support children during social activities and outings.
  • Encourage communication and, also look after their physical needs.
  • Work alongside the teacher and SEN team to create a positive learning environment.
  • Prepare and provide learning materials.

Requirements of a Individual Support Assistant:

  • Impose patience and understanding.
  • Have an understanding with challenging behaviour.
  • Always be adaptable in any give situation.
  • Be able to develop strong and positive relationships with children.
  • Committed to working as part of a team.
