A Primary School in Pontefract is currently seeking an experienced School Caretaker to ensure school premises are well-maintained, secure, and welcoming for our students and staff. This role is crucial in providing a safe and nurturing environment for our school community. The role is 10hrs per week (Mon-Fri) so ideal for someone who is seeking an extra source of income.
Day-to-day of the role:
- Open the school premises each morning, ensuring all areas are secure and ready for the day.
- Conduct daily checks of the school grounds and buildings to ensure they meet safety and cleanliness standards.
- Perform minor maintenance and repair tasks, and report any major issues to the school administration.
- Secure all entry points and ensure alarm systems are functioning correctly.
- Assist with the setup of rooms for school activities and events, demonstrating flexibility and a can-do attitude.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
- Previous experience in a caretaking or maintenance role is preferred but not essential.
- Basic maintenance and repair skills are necessary to address minor issues promptly.
- A strong attention to detail and a proactive approach to problem-solving.
- Reliability and punctuality are critical, as the role involves opening the school.
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively as part of a team.
- Good communication skills to effectively interact with staff and report issues.
