Construction Buyer – Sutton-in-Ashfield - £30,000 - £45,000
Chase & Holland are excited to be working with a highly reputable, long standing construction business who are looking for a Buyer to join their team.
As a Buyer, you will report directly to the Managing Director providing support, advice and guidance on all purchasing activities for the business ensuring strong relationships with suppliers are maintained whilst driving cost saving efficiencies when possible.
The business is working on some really exciting projects at the moment and it's a fantastic time to join!
Construction Buyer Responsibilities:
- Providing prices / quotes for all materials included on concept stage drawings to enable effective cost plans to be produced
- Process material orders and create precise site-specific material schedules
- Providing prices for and procuring construction plant and equipment
- Building relationships with suppliers and negotiating with them for the best quotes, quantities and delivery timescales
- Identifying potential suppliers and products
- Monitoring supplier reliability and dealing effectively with any supply challenges and the flow of materials
- Review invoice queries and resolve/respond in a timely manner
- Monitor, report and address material losses/damage/stock on site to reduce excess expenditure
- Calculating quantities for materials working off project drawings
- Ensuring that materials and sub-contractors are purchased at the agreed rates
- Ensure compliance with Health & Safety requirements
- Inventory management
Hours:
Full-time, Monday to Friday 8:30am – 5pm (30 min lunch)

Required Skills & Experience:
- Good understanding on construction technical drawings
- Knowledge of the construction industry and relevant materials
- Strong negotiation and communication skills
- Ability to work effectively in a team and foster good relationships with suppliers
- Comprehensive Microsoft computer skills
