Hourly Care Assistant / Support Worker to Journalism Graduate

We are currently recruiting on behalf of our client, a young male, who is looking for a like-minded individual to provide his personal care and independent living support. This is a great opportunity to make a positive impact on a young adult's life.

Start Date: ASAP

Location: Southall, UB1 3QB

Work Pattern: Two Week - Alternating Shift Pattern:

Week 1: Monday - Wednesday: 3 x Waking Nights (36 Hours)

Week 2: Saturday - Sunday: 2 x Day Shifts (24 Hours)

Rate of Pay & Benefits:

Pay: £15.00 Per Hour / £180.00 Per 12 Hour Shift + Bonus for supporting the client whilst he is at work

Accommodation whilst working - Provided

About our Client

Our client is an apprentice journalist working at a well-established broadcasting company in central London whilst living in Southall. Our client will also be studying part time via Kent University which he will travel to with PAs. This is likely to be once every 3 - 4 months.

He has a diagnosis of Spinal Muscular Atrophy type II. He loves anything sci-fi and enjoys watching Marvel films and Doctor Who. He also enjoys the creative side of journalism by working on productions in the radio and television studios. In addition, our client enjoys going out and socialising, whether that be pubs and clubs, cinema, going for meals or other general out and about activities. Additionally, the client has a passion for current affairs and enjoys hearing people's stories. He especially loves a good old chat.

You will provide our client with support in the workplace, personal care, including health and social care. This is also a "flat mate" type of role which goes far beyond simply care work, and includes all the fun things you'd expect a graduate to be doing**,** like getting out and about to see friends, the cinema, going on holiday and much more! You will be fully trained alongside current personal assistants with our client.

This opportunity doesn't come around very often, the ability to make a difference to somebody's life is something you will cherish forever.

Care experience is not required as full training in our client's particular requirements will be provided.

A full clean UK driving licence is preferred, but not essential.

5.6 week's holiday pro rata.

About You

You are unlikely to have experience in every aspect of our client's care therefore full training in his particular needs is provided.

You will need:

  • To have a great sense of humour
  • Good communication skills
  • To be physically fit, calm, patient and caring
  • Good organisational skills and ability to work on your own initiative
  • A mature and responsible attitude
  • To be fluent in English
  • Driver preferred but not essential
