DEI Strategic Lead: Elevation - London Fire Brigade

We are seeking a DEI Strategic Lead: Elevation to join our People Services team within the People Directorate. This role is pivotal in leading the design and delivery of staff network activities, events, educational interventions, and evaluation processes. The successful candidate will oversee the Elevation strand of our DEI Strategy, contributing to the capability building of staff and supporting cultural change across the organisation.

Day to Day of the role

  • Lead the development of staff network activities and interventions aligned with organisational goals around cultural change.
  • Direct programme management of initiatives under the Elevation strand of the DEI Strategy, including staff networks and cultural wellbeing activities.
  • Collaborate with staff and stakeholders to improve capability and confidence in DEI and embed inclusion in all aspects of our work.
  • Design, procure, and deliver staff network interventions, including customised training programmes and educational materials.
  • Engage in research and stakeholder management to develop elevation strategies and policies.
  • Programme manage the Elevation strand of the DEI strategy and communicate effectively with stakeholders at all levels.
  • Provide strategic guidance on equality legislation, including the Public Sector Equality Duty (PSED).

Required Skills & Qualifications

  • Experience in designing, delivering, and facilitating staff events and interventions.
  • Proven ability to research and develop educational content to improve workforce and organisational performance.
  • Experience in developing, implementing, and reviewing policies and procedures.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills for producing educational material, reports, and corporate communications.
  • Proficiency in MS Office suite and understanding of IT applications in a training and development environment.
  • Membership of the Chartered Institute for Personnel and Development, or equivalent knowledge of current legislation and good practice relevant to DEI.
  • Understanding of the Equality Act 2010 and the Public Sector Equality Duty (PSED).
