Adecco are pleased to be recruiting for a Force Photographer to join Thames Valley Police at their Police HQ in Kidlington.

This would be a temporary post initially until March 2024, working part time hours 22.2 hours generally over 3 days per week. The rate is £14.84 per hour.

Your base would be Thames Valley Police Headquarters South, but primarily you'll be out on location a lot of the time. You will be responsible for producing amazing images that help tell TVP story, both within the force and outside to communities.

You will have a wide range of photographic opportunities, from going out on warrants and other police activities to take photos of TVP teams in action, to capturing TVP people celebrating with friends and family at awards ceremonies. This role also offers the rare opportunity to capture images that show key moments in policing history; from Royal events to major incidents. You will then oversee the delivery and storage of the images.

Key points:

  • Work with senior and chief officers and managers at photo shoots and force ceremonies.
  • Liaise with managers in HQ departments and in Corporate Communications in providing photographs for developing and maintaining the website, intranet and social media platforms and the internal and external force publications.
  • Attend high profile ceremonies throughout the year: Shrievalty Merit Awards, Chief Constable Commendations, Community Policing Awards, attendance of Royalty/high profile figures within the Thames Valley area. Out of hours working is required to cover events and operations.
  • Attend force operations to capture the events.
  • The role involves travelling around the force so a clean driving licence and access to a car is required.
  • The role requires a knowledge of Health and Safety rules and understanding of risk assessment processes.

The knowledge or skills required in the role are as follows:

  • Recognised qualification in photography and equivalent experience.
  • Able to use a suitable professional photography equipment.
  • Experience in using and maintaining a digital library/database.
  • Knowledge and experience in using MS Office and Photoshop.
  • Ability to communicate with a wide range of people and experience in managing and directing people in order to take photographs.
  • Experience of working as part of a team, planning and delivering projects to agreed deadlines.
  • Proven experience in all aspects of in-house communications work, e.g. PR and press related.
