Are you motivated by supporting and helping children with additional needs?

We are looking for a commited Learning Support Assistant to work on-on-one with a small group of children that have a specialist provision for students that are diagnosed with Autistic Spectrum Disorder. This school is located in Hailsham and teaches between the ages 11-18

This schools knows that relationships between staff, students and our wider community are pivotal to our success. Staff have high expectations, are ambitious for thier students, and should know them well. They pride themselves on rigorous focus on the child as a unique individual, including thier most disadvantaged and those with SEND.

This role will give you essential experience within a challenging yet rewarding setting - career progression routes include SEN Teacher, Occupational Therapist and various Psychology routes.

Responsibilities of a Learning Support Assistant:

  • Help children understand instructions.
  • Support children during social activities and outings.
  • Encourage communication and also look after their physical needs.
  • Prepare and provide learning materials.

  • Impose patience and understanding.
  • Have an understanding with challenging behaviour.
  • Always be adaptable in any give situation.
  • Be able to develop strong and positive relationships with children.
  • Committed to working as part of a team.
