Interim Director of Engineering
Location: Hybrid (London office 1-2 times a week)
Contract Length: Immediate start, contract role
Day Rate: Up to £1000 per day
The Role
Are you a dynamic and experienced engineering leader ready to drive the growth and excellence of a high-performing team? We are seeking an Interim Director of Engineering to support a fast-growing tech company in scaling its team from 90 to over 150 engineers. This hands-off role demands someone who has previously been an engineer and understands the intricacies of product-focused engineering in a rapidly evolving environment.
Responsibilities:
- Partner with the VP of Technology to shape the engineering strategy and expand the team.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams in product, design, and data to deliver top-notch consumer products.
- Lead the recruitment process to attract and onboard top-tier talent, ensuring swift integration and productivity.
- Mentor and coach senior engineers and engineering managers to develop a high-performing, motivated team.
- Foster a vibrant, high-trust engineering culture that promotes continuous improvement and excellence.
- Enhance engineering principles to empower informed decision-making and value delivery for customers.
Key Requirements:
- Proven track record of managing and growing engineering teams, especially from Series C and beyond.
- Deep understanding of consumer products with extensive experience in product-focused engineering.
- Outstanding people leadership skills, with a compassionate management style and a commitment to team development.
- Excellent communication skills, able to convey strategic vision and foster collaboration.
- Proactive attitude with a bias towards action and continuous improvement.
