Senior Systems Accountant

An ambitious local authority are looking for an enthusiastic, and driven Senior Systems Accountant to join the committed finance team, managing a team of people. You will develop, manage and maintain the Council's Corporate financial system and bridge the gap between IT & Finance. Supporting an support an integrated approach to the core accountancy processes making efficient use of the financial system and provide high quality and consistent financial systems advice, to support effective decision making.

The post must work effectively with Finance and other colleagues to help develop a strategic and workable response to the financial challenges the councils face.

You will be responsible for the continuous and smooth efficient running of the financial systems. deliver new developments and upgrades to the finance system, including testing of new software and liaising with external consultants and providers being the key contact point for system users' queries and problems.

As part of this role, you will also be responsible for the maintenance of the Chart of Accounts, including hierarchies and tables. To ensure that daily reconciliation reports are undertaken to verify transactions from all systems have been uploaded and that all import/ export processes for all financial systems are in order.

For your information it is essential that you have strong knowledge of requirements pertaining to revenue expenditure and good experience of producing closure of accounts.

This role offers flexible hybrid working, requiring just 1 day a month in office and membership to the Local Government Pension Scheme.
