An opportunity has arisen for a Purchasing Programme Lead to join the Procurement department in a rapidly expanding and exciting work environment.

About the role

Adopting a leadership role within an exciting procurement function, the role holder will drive a best practice approach to procurement across a developing team. Including, but not limited to effective delivery of defined procurement objectives against Fortescue Zero's New Product Creation System (NPCS) launch process. In addition, the role holder will act as the conduit between the supply chain and programme management functions ensuring a clear cascade of both project purchasing status and programme targets respectively.

What you will do:

  • Representing the procurement function in NPCS gateway reviews in support of effective programme launch for assigned programmes.
  • Responsible for managing and reporting against the right to left & left to right nomination plan for the purchasing team on directed projects.
  • Support with the development of the purchasing programme management suite of standard documentation/ templates for project KPI reporting.
  • Responsible for the on-time delivery of conforming materials and parts, for new and existing product in conjunction with supplier quality assurance team.
  • Facilitate the creation of Product/Category/Commodity/Programme procurement strategies gaining consensus with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Develop & chair a robust cross-functional nomination sourcing council to support programme supplier down-selection.
  • Work closely with the commodity and logistics teams to ensure appropriate sourcing, logistics and packaging strategies are in place to facilitate the smooth launch of assigned projects.
  • Manage purchased parts, obtain BoM with forecast volume from assigned Business Unit, and provide pricing updates.
  • Monitor and report targets, and overall supplier status, while identifying and benchmarking suppliers.
  • Identify cost improvement opportunities by localisation, direct profit, point of purchase optimization, support and lead VA/VE, and cost negotiations with the supply base prior to programme launch.
  • Chair regular business and programme reviews with key suppliers ensuring strategic alignment is achieved.
  • Create, develop, and continuously improve the business procurement processes and procedures within a multi programme environment.
  • The post holder will undertake other duties as may be required to achieve the Company's objectives, commensurate with the grading of the post.
  • Champion the standardisation of templates and reporting metrics across the purchasing programme management team.

About you:

  • Good problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work under own initiative and under pressure, in a controlled manner.
  • Strong analytical skills allied with an ability and commitment to meet deadlines.
  • Build and develop interdepartmental relationships within WAE to provide overall business improvement.
  • Excellent communication skills both written and verbal.
  • Strong data driven and visual reporting skills, ensuring quantified status and risk is communicated.
  • Knowledge of ISO/IATF quality systems, preferred.
  • Purchasing programme management professional with experience of adopting APQP framework within a manufacturing environment preferred.
  • Strong negotiation and influencing skills.
  • Microsoft Excel and Office skills.
  • Supplier visits are part of the role, so a clean driving license is essential.
