We are seeking a Customer Service Officer. This is a contract from August until January 2025. This is a busy and highly rewarding telephony based role, handling high volume customer calls relating to a broad range of services including elections, waste, housing, parking and childrens service to name a few.
Monday to Friday 08:30am - 17:15pm - hybrid work, 2 days in the office. Based in either Taunton, Yeovil or Bridgwater.
The Role
Your main duties will include:
- Provide advice and guidance to customers and members of the public requesting support predominantly through the telephone. Face to face, email and digital customer interactions can also be involved.
- Customers can contact between 08:30am and 17:15pm so work pattern will be between these hours.
- Handle each enquiry with care and understanding, offering quality support and guidance before and in lots of cases instead of transferring the customer to a specific service teams.
The Candidate
The ideal candidate will have:
- Excellent customer service skills including listening, empathy, understanding and kindness.
- Excellent all round communication skills including strong telephone manner.
- Confidence and resilience to handle high volume, sensitive and emotive transactions.
- Good computer skills, confidence to learn new systems and use multiple technologies.
