Overview: We are seeking a Senior Java Developer to join our team for a high-profile client project. The role involves leading the development and continuous improvement of an API Management (APIM) service. This service enables efficient data access, provisioning, and tracking at scale, supporting future development projects across the client's organization. The APIM service is essential for reducing the effort needed in product and service development by simplifying data usage and providing a consistent data interface.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the definition and development of work activities to enhance the APIM capability.
  • Collaborate with the Product Manager, Lead Technical Architect, and Senior DevOps Engineer to deliver stakeholder requirements by breaking down user stories and providing costed technical solutions.
  • Oversee low-level design aspects of technical solutions, ensuring alignment with time, cost, and quality constraints.
  • Advise on maintaining operations, considering factors such as running costs and supportability.
  • Conduct and delegate design and code reviews to foster team development.
  • Maintain DevOps best practices, automated testing, and continuous deployment tools.
  • Provide technical guidance for adopting APIM capabilities, including improving self-service onboarding documentation.
  • Support the DevOps team in training, mentoring, and technical career development.
  • Develop and extend Python-based AWS Lambda APIs and build new Java classes to enhance the APIM platform.

Required Skills:

  • Proficient in Java and Python development.
  • Strong knowledge of Amazon AWS services, including Lambda, EC2, VPC, and AWS CodePipeline.
  • Experience implementing or supporting REST APIs using API Management solutions (e.g., WSO2, Apigee) and OpenAPI (Swagger) Definitions.
  • Ability to translate requirements into clear low-level or high-level designs.
  • Experience working in live service environments using DevOps and Agile processes.
  • Strong teamwork and communication skills.
  • Familiarity with tools such as git/GitHub, Atlassian toolset, Maven, Java Frameworks, Junit, and Jmeter.
  • Experience in writing technical and user-facing documentation.
  • Must be SC Cleared.

This is a fantastic opportunity to play a key role in a critical project, driving innovation and efficiency in API management for a major client.
