We are on the lookout for a compassionate Learning Support Assistant to join our mission-driven team. Our establishment is dedicated to transforming the life chances of children aged 12-18 years within the criminal justice system. We believe in delivering psychologically informed, integrated practice that is built upon trusted, safe relationships between staff and children.

Day to Day of the role:

  • Establish and maintain meaningful, safe relationships with young people, providing them with stability and trust.
  • Implement psychologically informed approaches to support the personal and social development of children in the criminal justice system.
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues to create and deliver individualised care plans that address the needs of each child.
  • Engage with children to encourage positive behaviour and decision-making, providing guidance and mentorship.
  • Monitor and report on the progress of children, adapting strategies as needed to support their development and well-being.
  • Act as an advocate for the children, ensuring their voices are heard and their rights are upheld within the justice system.
  • Participate in training and professional development opportunities to enhance your understanding of integrated practice and child psychology.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • Experience working with youth, particularly those within the criminal justice system or at-risk populations.
  • Strong understanding of the challenges faced by children in the criminal justice system and a commitment to their transformation and rehabilitation.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build trust and rapport with young people.
  • Knowledge of child development, psychology, and behaviour management strategies.
  • Resilience and emotional intelligence to handle complex and challenging situations.
  • Relevant qualifications in youth work, social work, psychology, or a related field are highly advantageous.
