Our client is looking for Support Workers across Central and North Manchester to help them support young people in their transition to independent living. Their ethos empowers supporting young people to support themselves.

The nature of the work at our client is varied and, in many instances, unpredictable. All staff are therefore expected to work in a flexible way and tasks that have not been covered in the job description have to be undertaken.

This is a hands-on, unpredictable role by nature, so you will need to be flexible and accommodating. Shifts will involve weekdays, evenings, weekends and some sleep-ins. Although varied key tasks will include:

  • Providing a caring, safe, secure and accepting environment that meets the basic physical, health, social needs and rights of the young people being supported.
  • Undertaking a range of domestic duties, including cooking and cleaning.
  • Making assessments of need and co-ordinate the formulation of these to enable them to be met.
  • Enabling and maximising educational opportunities and achievements for young people being supported.
  • Display a good level of awareness and understanding of safeguarding concerns, assessing and recording risk.
  • To key-work a young person in line with their support plan to support them in gaining independent living skills.
  • To have completed or be actively working on a QCF Level 3/4 Children and Young People in Residential Qualification.

Our Client

They offer individual person-centred support on their journey towards adulthood. They believe that young people have a better chance of success when they have skills and resources to navigate their next steps towards independence. They accommodate young people who are predominately aged 16 to 18 and post 18, who are Looked After Children, including, Unaccompanied Asylum-Seeking Children. Additionally young people at risk of homelessness or who are homeless, young people on remand and in the Youth Justice system, and Care Leavers. Their current cohort are predominantly Unaccompanied Asylum-Seeking Children.

The framework to empower their young people and strengthen their skills can be a supported network of one-to-one support and group work opportunities. They have a passionate commitment to enable and empower young people with complex social, emotional and behavioural needs to promote positive outcomes for adult life.
