Salary: £30,168 - £31,777 per annum plus excellent benefits

Location: Walsall, West Midlands

Contract: Full Time, Permanent, 37 hours per week (minimum of two days in the office, however, could be more depending on service needs)

We have an exciting opportunity for a Money Advisor to join our Money Advice team. In this role, you will support customers, ensuring appropriate information and advice is given to assist them in sustaining tenancies.

Main job responsibilities:

  • Ensure that customers are supported in relation to welfare benefits and debt advice by delivering an effective and efficient money management service, providing advice on income maximisation and financial management.
  • Conduct tenancy sustainability assessments for new tenancies that support whg's tenancy sustainability agenda.
  • Provide expertise as a specialist in money advice and budgeting
  • Support customers to minimise potential risks to tenancy sustainability and refer to internal and external services, organisations and statutory authorities.
  • Provide pro-active support, targeting new and potential customers with expert financial advice and guidance.
  • Ensure that policies and procedures are implemented to consistently achieve corporate objectives.
  • Work effectively with internal teams and partner agencies to provide the best support service to our customers, ensuring their income is maximised.
  • Deliver customer focused services to whg's existing and potential customers which achieve key performance indicators

We're looking for someone who has:

  • Recent and relevant experience working in a money management and advisory capacity.
  • Experience of debt and welfare benefit casework, compiling income and expenditure financial statements and dealing with customers in one-to-one situations.
  • In depth knowledge of current legislation affecting welfare benefits, debt and the housing sector.
  • The ability to advise and assist with applications to increase income from external sources, including charitable trusts, local authority discretionary housing payment schemes, and utility companies.
  • Experience maintaining accurate and appropriate records relating to each case, recording all activity, interventions and outcomes
  • The ability to drive and access to a car, as the post holder may be required to travel efficiently from location to location (preferred but not essential)
  • A customer focused approach, with great communication skills and the ability to build excellent working relationships
  • Competency in IT systems, with the ability to input and access data quickly and accurately using computerised software.
  • The aptitude to respond to conflicting pressures and demands with limited support and guidance whilst paying attention to detail.
