Radio Planning Engineer

We are working with one of our most prestigious client who are an industry leader in the telecommunications sector, supporting them with the recruitment of a Radio Planning Engineer.

Pay rate £325 per day
Scope: Outside of IR35
Duration: 12 months

Location: Glasgow (1-2 days per week in the office)
Start Date: ASAP
Experience: RAN / Radio Planning

Key responsibilities:

  • Responsible for delivering 2G/3G/4G/5G radio design (site and BSC/RNC level) to meet regional coverage/capacity requirements, implement nominal plans and support technological future proofing
  • Responsible for ultimate site selection, attending multi skilled visits for BAU and NTQ sites
  • Responsible for supporting CODE (ECC) witness statements for tribunals
  • Responsible for drawing approvals, configuration build in Cramer and producing impact statements for NTQ
  • Responsible for ensuring that the regional radio network meets National Guidelines, supporting the optimisation of the Network and enhancing customer experience

Customers, supplier and third parties

  • Working with Vendors, Suppliers, other UK Operators when sharing agreements apply, other OPCO's and deployment teams, Service Operations and other networks domains in cross functional teams to improve performance
  • Working with central teams (primarily Radio Optimisation and Radio Design units) to be aware of the latest guidelines and feedback about new findings and proposals to update them

Leadership and teamwork

  • Liaising with all central Radio project teams to manage the delivery of the access network capabilities into the region ensuring great performance
  • Driving suppliers to ensure future radio coverage addresses any negative influences on network performance as well as delivering improving coverage by delivery of local regional coverage plans and designs

Knowledge and experience

  • Must have an excellent understanding of 2G , 3G, 4G and 5G radio network technology
  • Drive/Walk Testing Analysis
  • Excellent analytical and problem solving skills
  • Must have experience on radio coverage planning (including planning tools like Atoll)
  • Experience of local optimisation techniques (parametric and physical optimisation) and associated processes
  • Experience of working as part of a team or virtual teams to meet challenging timescales
