Reed Education is seeking a dedicated Teaching Assistant to join our School in Woking, providing high-quality, therapeutic, and child-centred education for pupils aged 11 to 17 years with Social, Emotional, and Mental Health needs (SEMH), as well as other Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND). This role is ideal for individuals who are passionate about making a difference in the lives of children and are equipped to handle the varied and challenging nature of the work.

Day to Day of the Role

  • Support teaching and learning activities tailored to individual student needs.
  • Engage with children one-on-one or in small groups to facilitate their learning and social development.
  • Manage classroom resources and create an exceptional learning environment through vibrant displays.
  • Accompany and supervise children on educational trips and visits.
  • Provide social support during lunchtimes for children who struggle socially.
  • Apply strong behaviour management skills to keep children safe during heightened behaviours.
  • Utilise excellent communication skills to interact effectively with students.
  • Participate in the creation and delivery of games and activities that enhance social skills and learning.
  • Contribute to the school's decision-making process, advocating for the needs of every child.

Required Skills & Qualifications

  • A good basic understanding of English and Maths.
  • Experience in supporting children with complex and challenging behaviours.
  • Resilience, persistence, and a solution-focused attitude.
  • Strong behaviour management skills and excellent communication abilities.
  • A non-judgemental approach and the ability to adapt quickly to changing situations.
  • Commitment to ongoing professional development, including therapeutic training.
