We are currently seeking an experienced Systems Accountant for an interim position lasting 6 months, with the potential for extension, at our construction company based in Canterbury. This role is crucial for candidates who are adept in financial systems management and possess a strong foundation in financial accounting.
**Day-to-day of the role:
- Manage and maintain the integrity of the accounting systems, ensuring they are current and in line with financial regulations.
- Collaborate with the finance team to enhance accounting procedures and financial reporting accuracy.
- Offer support and training to team members on financial systems utilisation.
- Partner with IT and finance to deploy system improvements and introduce new features.
- Generate and scrutinise financial reports, budgets, and forecasts to accurately represent the company's financial status.
- Conduct systematic audits and liaise with external auditors to maintain accounting compliance.
- Oversee system updates and integrations, coordinating with vendors and internal teams to ensure continuous financial operations.
**Required Skills & Qualifications:
- Demonstrable experience in a Systems Accountant role, preferably within the construction sector.
- Solid grasp of financial accounting principles.
- Proficient with various accounting software and adaptable to emerging technologies.
- Exceptional analytical abilities and meticulous attention to detail.
- Effective communication skills, capable of conveying complex system information to a non-technical audience.
- Relevant accounting qualifications (ACCA, CIMA, or similar) are highly desirable.
