Procurement Coordinator / Assistant Purchasing Manager

Up to £41000

Hours 8am - 4pm (30 mins lunch)

This is a brand new role for one of our favourite SME's who invent, design and manufacture specialist mechanical equipment for a wide range of interesting industry sectors. Enjoying yet another period of business growth they are looking for someone with Purchasing experience gained within a manufacturing / production environment. The Job

This busy Engineering Team purchases a wide range of products to build bespoke systems for their customers. You must have 3 years+ previous purchasing experience, ideally in a manufacturing/engineering environment.

  • Communicating with suppliers regarding pricing, availability, and delivery schedules.
  • Control of an annual budgets of around £1.7m
  • Planning across multiple projects to make bulk purchases where able to secure improved terms and / or pricing.
  • Preparing purchase orders, requesting quotes from suppliers
  • Progress chase deliveries, identify problems proactively manage delivery timescales.
  • Liaise with technical team if parts are unavailable and work through alternative options and contingency plans.
  • Assist in maintaining inventory stock levels, ensuring that products are in stock and available.
  • Preparing reports and analysis
  • Negotiating prices and payment terms with suppliers on larger projects.
  • Oversee the assembly schedule with correct pricing information.Ensure project costs are fed back and updated for job performance analysis.
  • Monitor projects for over spend and highlight any overspending.
  • Pricing updates for the sales team to enable fast and accurate quotations for the future.
  • Maintain annual price updates from suppliers and manage updates to Sage.
  • Assist in controlling all expenditure within the business including building utility contracts and consumables.
  • Attending and contributing to inhouse and client meetings, training and development of 2 Purchasing administrators. Its therefore vital you are a strong communicator with good rapport building skills

Useful experience:

  • It is essential you've had previous purchasing experience which includes authority to sign off on order values over £50,000
  • Well organised with good planning skills and commercial awareness.
  • It would be useful to be able to interpret basic technical drawings and have an interest and experience in technical equipment.
  • Good IT skills - Microsoft Office (Excel and Word)
  • Good 'people skills' are required and should be able to fit into our existing team.]#
  • Excellent communication skills, and the ability to identify problems and work together with the right people to find solutions.
