On an exclusive basis, greenwellgleeson are recruiting for a No. 1 Financial Controller in a PE Backed SME business based in Tamworth with plans to grow into the FD position within 5 years. If that wasn't enough, they also operate a four day working week - Monday - Thursday.
Reporting into the COO, duties of the role will include:
Finance department
Coach, mentor and support the team to achieve personal, team and organisational success
Drive improvements in the efficiency and productivity of the finance team
Oversee sales ledger, purchase ledger, credit control and payroll functions
Manage individual team 1-2-1s and bi-annual Personal Development Reviews
Take responsibility for the company cash management policies. Monitor cash flow, accounts, and other financial transactions
Financial and Management Accounting
Review and manage monthly reconciliation of balance sheet accounts
Preparation of monthly management accounts (including forecasts) and commentary in line with Group deadlines
Produce internal monthly managers' report for the board
Weekly Group reporting- including but not limited to cash flow, forecasts and ad hoc requests
Implementation, monitoring and driving improvements in Group policies and processes
Responsibility for year-end audit, half year reviews and internal audits
Liaise with Group on preparation of statutory accounts
Ensure compliance with accounting standards and advise on future changes which may have a business impact
Wider business
Develop strong relationships with Private Equity, Bank and non-executive director stakeholders.
Ensure that the Senior Leadership Team and main board of directors are appraised of forward looking bank covenant compliance.
Participate fully in operational meetings and influence wider business processes by asking the right questions at the right time
Monitor, improve, and hold senior leadership team to account on financial controls and matters of governance and compliance
Drive wider business improvements by providing and interpreting information, developing measures and being a critical friend to the management team
Ownership and first point of contact for senior management for financial data and support (including but not limited to capex requests, forecasting, target setting and resource proposals)
Contribution in company strategy and delivery of the strategic and operational goals of the company including providing analysis on the financial climate and market trends to assist senior managers and executives in creating strategic plans for the future
Preparation of annual budgets with support from the senior leadership and Group including holding budget owners to account on variances
Anticipate opportunities and risks and present these in a way that the business can act to obtain the greatest benefit
Participate in the process to bring the business to a sale point, managing key processes to facilitate a sale at the appropriate time.
Qualifications, Experience & Skills:
Skilled Finance professional who has an in-depth knowledge of both financial and management accounts
Qualified ACA/ ACCA/ ACMA
Manufacturing Accounting experience preferred
Be commercially aware with a customer centric approach
