Credit Controller – 6 month contract to perm, Camberley, £28000 - £35000
This is a full-time position offered on an initial 6 month contract basis with a view to becoming permanent afterward. Candidates will need to be available at short notice to take up this post.
Are you an experienced Credit Controller with a strong background in collecting problem debts and a good understanding of the legal aspects related to credit and debt? This varied role is central to providing an exceptional customer experience and requires a proactive and organised individual who can manage a fast-paced and varied workload.
Day-to-day of the role:
- Oversee key accounts by ageing and following up on overdue invoices to ensure timely payment.
- Investigate customer disputes and queries related to payments, negotiate and resolve issues to clear invoices for payment, including agreeing on payment plans.
- Contact customers proactively to remind them of upcoming payments and discuss any account-related concerns, ensuring regular collection of payments.
- Conduct checks on Companies House and perform credit checks on Experian, adhering to department guidelines.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of all transactions, including regularly updating notes on Sage 50 and other systems.
- Prepare aged debt reports for the finance department and report to management on outstanding issues and potential debtor problems.
- Provide administrative support and coordinate with other customer-facing teams when queries arise.
- Drive the achievement and contribute towards company and departmental KPIs for ageing and overdue invoices.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
- A solid understanding of legal aspects related to credit and debt.
- Proven experience in collecting problem debts from customers.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office products.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
- A passion for customer service excellence.
- High level of organisation, interpersonal skills, multitasking, and attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently and unsupervised.
- Enthusiasm to learn and complete department/company training requirements.
