Trading (Buying) Assistant / Administrator

Location: Harrow

Salary: £27,000 + up to 10% bonus

Benefits: Extensive benefits package

Work Pattern: 35 hours per week

Role Overview:

As a Trading Assistant Core Grocery, you will provide essential administrative support to the Grocery Trading (buyers) team, ensuring timely delivery of trading activities and projects. You will work closely with Buyers using Excel and other MS Office applications.

Qualifications and Experience:

Essential:

  • Previous Administration experience in a busy office
  • Ability to prioritise, plan workload, and meet deadlines.
  • Good level of education, including English and Maths.
  • Experience in analysing and interpreting data.
  • Competence in Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, and Excel.
  • Ability to work in partnership.
  • Ambitious and resilient.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.

Key Responsibilities include:

  • Assist in producing folders and documents.
  • Chase suppliers for debt and turnover figures; input confirmed numbers into budget sheets.
  • Administer price changes, load new product lines, and execute tasks accurately.
  • Assist in producing documentation for category reviews and request information from RDCs and suppliers.
  • Chase suppliers for promotion submissions, liaise with Trading Support, and administer changes.
  • Manage administrative functions and ensure contact lists are up-to-date.
  • Collect and collate forecasts.
  • Support data completion, benchmarking, and securing supplier rationale for price increases.
  • Compile reports and chase suppliers for outstanding deliveries or issues.
  • Support in summarising stock cover and checking contract balances.
  • Submit supplier contacts and run accuracy reports.
  • Build knowledge of market, products, services, customers, and competitors.
  • Organise workload efficiently and make decisions within role accountability.
  • Take ownership of objectives and demonstrate initiative.
  • Participate in teamwork and contribute constructively.
