An exciting opportunity to be a part of our Flood Risk Team!

We are searching for an ambitious individual with a desire and keen interest within flood risk management to become our next Assistant Flood Risk Management Officer who will work within our small-bespoke team within Cirencester, West Oxfordshire and Coleford.

The Flood Risk Management team is a consultee on many planning applications across the districts. The team also carry out the delegated function of the Land Drainage Authority, which involves the processing of applications to work on watercourses as well as carrying out the enforcement of the Land Drainage Act.

About the role

You will provide robust and creative advice and you will play a role in scrutinising and developing a range of multi- disciplinary projects including flood risk assessments, drainage strategies for regeneration, urban expansion, and large infrastructure projects. You will assist in project management and assist in reviewing technical work including flood risk reports and drainage strategies.

Additionally, the team delivers a reactive service in response to reported flooding incidents, which can lead to the team designing and delivering flood defence schemes to prevent homes from future flooding.

The desired candidate will need to be highly organised and self-motivated with a passion for this area and helping residents and developers. This is a brilliant opportunity for someone to progress and develop within the Flood Risk Management Team. We would love to hear from anyone wanting to start their career within this sector.

You will need

  • Geography/Geology A'level or equivalent.
  • IT literate with ability to create, maintain and present spreadsheets and data.
  • Flexible and willing to perform other tasks as assigned
  • Ability to manage your time effectively, to ensure that you are consistently getting your work done to agreed deadlines
  • Ability to be able to withstand cold and wet periods outside
  • Experience of using CAD software is desirable but not essential

  • There may be a requirement to work at other Publica Group (Support) Ltd and/or client locations to meet the needs of the business
  • You will be expected to work reasonable additional hours in line with the needs of the service
  • Ability to travel
