As a Hardware Design Engineer, you will play a critical role in developing cutting-edge hardware solutions that enhance medical diagnostic capabilities while adhering to stringent medical device standards.
Goals and Projects:
Short-Term Projects
Design of medical headlights for dental and surgical markets.
Development of autonomous testing equipment for production line automation.
Creation of a hardware-in-loop testing platform.
Mid-Term Projects
High-speed digital design for real-time AR/VR applications.
Power electronics architecture for high compute edge devices.
Core Responsibilities:
Hardware Design and Development: Lead comprehensive hardware engineering efforts including schematic capture, PCB design, and rapid prototyping.
Medical Device Standards Compliance: Ensure adherence to medical device design standards (ISO 13485, EN60601).
System Architecture: Architect robust system platforms utilizing high throughput processor technologies, ensuring high performance and reliability in medical applications.
Testing and Validation: Utilize lab equipment (oscilloscope, spectrum analyzer,
etc.) for hardware testing and validation.
Component Management: Manage component selection and procurement, optimizing supply chains to meet project timelines and quality standards.
Prototyping: Oversee testing and programming jigs development for hardware validation.
Quality Assurance: Ensure system compliance and quality assurance, collaborating with QA and Regulatory Affairs to meet global medical regulations and standards.
Mentorship: Mentor and guide junior hardware engineers, fostering innovation and excellence within the team.
Continuous Improvement: Innovate and enhance system designs based on clinical feedback and user interactions, driving continuous improvement.
Design for Manufacture (DFM): Implement DFM principles to ensure hardware designs are optimized for manufacturing, reducing costs, and improving product quality.
Skills, Knowledge & Experience:
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Embedded Systems, Robotics, Mechatronics, or a related field; a Master's degree is preferred.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in hardware design engineering and design for manufacture; experience in C/C++ firmware development is preferred as well.
- Proficiency in PCB design and validation software: Altium/KiCad/OrCAD/EAGLE, Power Analyzer by Keysight, SPICE simulations.
- Experience with high-speed digital design and delay matching (DDR3/4, MIPI, PCIe, USB3.0+).
- Strong understanding of analog sensor design and rapid prototyping.
- Proficiency with lab equipment for hardware testing and validation.
- Experience in designing embedded systems centered around MCUs and FPGAs (preferably AVR, STM32, Zynq MPSoC, NXP) Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong communication skills and ability to work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary team.
- Knowledge of design for manufacture (DFM) principles.
