SENIOR DEVELOPMENT MANAGER

Location: Birmingham, Hybrid
Salary Range: Dependant on experience, car allowance, enhanced pension, private medical

INTRODUCTION

This is an exciting opportunity for an ambitious and driven Senior Development Manager to join one of the UK's largest owners of industrial and logistics property. With over 200 employees and 27mln SF of currently let property, this company is committed to making a better world for future generations and takes responsibility for its actions. It has a fantastic team and a strong operating platform across the whole of the industrial and logistics spectrum in the UK. RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDED

  • Lead development schemes and drive development pipeline in line with the business strategy.
  • "Cradle to Grave" responsibilities from identifying and securing land through to successful leasing and handover to customer and portfolio team.
  • Take line management responsibility for Development Managers and others within the team where applicable.
  • Drive development delivery and relevant pipeline for sites - display ownership, manage multi-disciplinary project teams and navigate blockers and hurdles to deliver.
  • Work collaboratively with wider teams including finance, portfolio, and transactions.
  • To be accountable for assigned developments to include appraisals, valuations, budgets and cashflow in line with business authorisation levels.
  • Bring Investment Committee papers forward in line with business plan and financial metrics.
  • Secure ERV through lease-up and exchanging new Build-to-Suit opportunities.
  • Identify/secure customer and landowner opportunities.
  • Promote activity with agents acting for occupiers and landowners.
  • Submit planning applications and secure consents in line with business plan to ensure scheme "Readiness".
  • Work closely with the strategic planning team, stakeholders and landowners to progress sites in line with the business plan (and forecast spend).
  • Actively demonstrate stakeholder engagement to drive pipeline delivery, and brand awareness and to identify relevant new opportunities.
  • Ensure relevant obligations in Development Agreements are adhered to and build great relationships with Landowner partners.
  • Work collaboratively with the transactions and portfolio teams to support and add development expertise to their acquisition and redevelopment ambitions including funding third-party developers.

SKILLS AND ATTRIBUTES

  • RICS General Practice or Planning and Development.
  • Relevant Development experience - delivering schemes, customer leasing and acquiring land opportunities.
  • Active in the market with strong relationships with key agents and customers.
  • Commercially astute and a strategic thinker capable of unlocking schemes.
  • Focused on customer and capable of building valuable and longstanding relationships with them and the key agents that represent them.
  • Track record in delivering schemes and securing new opportunities.
  • Comfortable with technology and appraisals
  • Sees technology as an opportunity to improve our efficiency and capability.
