Technical Services Project Officer

Location: Hybrid / Abingdon
Salary and grade: £36,032 - £42,576 per year, Grade 5
Duration of role: Fixed term contract for 12 months
Hours per week: 37 hours per week

Job purpose

To work in support of the Technical Services Team Leader to help deliver the actions arising from current car park and moorings projects and service delivery tasks. The role will take some of the tasks currently carried out by the Technical Services Team leader who is reducing the hours they work. The role will help to develop some policies such as for mooring and also have some involvement with reviewing contracts such as car park security, lighting and electricity.

In addition, there are on-going projects such as:

  • Electric vehicles (EVs) working with the OCC project team and county council wide project officer and colleagues in climate action to install additional EV chargers on council land
  • Charter car park maintenance to include current inspections, security, health and safety arrangements and review of security contract
  • Day to day car park maintenance issues and engineering minor works contract, working with colleagues in property assets to include hard surface repairs to paths and roads (including pot holes) car park lining, installation of bollards and fencing etc.
  • Virtual parking permits, rolling out new system to councillors and the Public.

Main duties and responsibilities:

  • Able to demonstrate good skills in managing different projects measurement of quality of service (car park KPIs)
  • Developing written procedures and processes
  • Procuring and managing new contracts
  • Use of new task management system on council system (Concerto)
  • Reporting on service delivery

The duties may vary from time to time without changing the nature of the post or the level of responsibility and the post holder may also be required to carry out any other duties appropriate to the grading of the post.

About you:

Your essential skills, knowledge and experience:

  • At least two years knowledge of developing and implementing office procedures and projects.
  • Good knowledge of IT systems such as Word and Excel
  • Being methodical and organised
  • Using initiative and being pro-active
  • Persistent in pursuing positive solutions.
  • Good team working skills to liaise with colleagues in Procurement,
  • Property, Facilities, Legal, HR, Technical business support and the Parks team.
  • Full driving license and access to car

Your essential qualifications:

  • Degree qualification or equivalent

If you have the following experience or qualifications – it's a bonus:

  • Understand and experience of council policies and procedures.
  • Knowledge of grounds maintenance service provision
  • Specialist databases – Concerto and GiS mapping
