Summary

We have a new opportunity for a dynamic Programme Manager to develop and manage a new UK-wide partnership programme designed to inspire and support towns and cities to put access to nature at the heart of their future plans, resulting in healthier, happier people and greener places. The partnership initiative is designed to:

  • Put green space at the heart of community life, improving well-being, prosperity, connection and local pride.
  • Deliver a step change in access to green space, many more people will have green space within a short walk or wheel from home.
  • Create better quality green spaces where people feel supported, encouraged able to spend time being active outdoors, every day.
  • Ensure nature recovery and nature-based solutions, planned and delivered with communities, are central to tackling health inequalities and improving climate resilience in towns and cities.

It's an exciting time to join us as this is first phase of this 10-year initiative will launch in late 2024 and you'll enjoy the the fast paced nature of this role.

Hours: Full time 37.5 hours per week working Monday to Friday

Salary: £44,499pa

Contract: Fixed term for 3 years

You'll be based out of our Manchester office, situated in the heart of the city centre. There is an expectation of some travel across the UK, to meet with colleagues and partners, in particular to Birmingham, London and Swindon, all close to great public transport, which is encouraged across the partnership.

What you'll be doing

This role is critical to the effective set up and smooth operation of the partnership and programme. You'll take the lead on programme governance; scope and definition; budgets; resourcing; and work-stream design and operation as well as benefit management.

At home working in partnership, the post holder will work closely with each of the main partners. This role will also take the lead on bringing the main partners together day to day, helping to make joint working as easy and as simple as possible. You'll manage a budget in the region of £1mn a year and line manage the Senior Project Co-ordinator.

Who we're looking for

We'd love to hear from you if you're:

  • able to demonstrate experience of successfully delivering complex end to end project/programme management, including defining resources, leading procurement securing project teams and matrix management across multiple projects/programmes
  • a Professional with technical knowledge and skills in project management demonstrated by a recognised project (AMP PMQ/Prince) or programme management (MSP) qualification
  • able to evidence ongoing CPD in your career to date
  • you're a flexible thinker and problem-solver, skilled at negotiating and building productive networks, and confident in using your expertise to influence decisions with senior leaders
  • a skilled communicator, with experience of managing complex and challenging situations with competing interests and a diverse range of people
  • a leader for inclusion, who finds ways to create an inclusive culture
  • confident with partnership working, understanding the importance of cross organisational working.
