Our client is a financially independent, family owned, developer and contractor. Their mission is to be a leading customer-focused developer of quality homes and sustainable communities, for all sectors of the housing market in London and the Southeast. The Assistant Management Accountant will work closely with the Head of Finance and the wider Group Finance team, ensuring group policies and processes are adhered to.

Key Responsibilities

  • Preparing the monthly development appraisals, including inputting costs to date, forecasting costs to go and ensuring cashflows and profit projections are accurately forecast.
  • Preparing information for the board meetings, including KPI reporting and dashboards.
  • Ensuring accurate and timely reporting of all financial information for the Division.
  • Responsible for posting monthly journals, owning the Trial Balance, ensuring control accounts are reconciled and management accounts prepared. (Sales postings, accrued income, overhead accruals, intercompany reconciliation, control accounts).
  • Assisting in the preparation of bank drawdowns, including providing invoice copies, preparing drawdown letters to the bank and analysing build and sales milestones with funders.
  • Confirming loan repayments with funders.
  • Key member of the Housebuilding COINS implementation team.
  • Assisting in the preparation of subcontractor financial due diligence reviews.
  • Supporting the setup of SPVs.
  • Calculating SDLT and overage payments and preparing payment requests.
  • Assisting in the preparation of monthly VAT returns and identifying any errors.
  • Reviewing council tax, business rates, utility bills, estate agent fees and various other costs.
  • Preparing payment requests for expenditure and challenging if costs are within budget.
  • Preparing key Build Stage progress reports.
  • Other ad hoc project work to support the Head of Finance.
  • Visiting development sites to gain an understanding of our projects.

Requirements

  • Part Qualified accountant (CIMA / ACCA or equivalent).
  • Experience in Housebuilding is desirable but not essential
  • Detailed knowledge of financial and management accounting (Accruals, Prepayments, Intercompany reconciliations).
  • Good knowledge of Microsoft Office with Excel at an advanced level (XLOOKUPS / SUMIFS/ Conditional Formatting).
  • Strong report writing skills with the ability to express financial results articulately at multiple levels.
  • COINS system experience preferred but not essential.
