Backend Developer - PHP/Laravel
- Annual Salary: £45,000 + 15% Commission

We are seeking a Backend Developer to join the Web & Marketing team at a leading eCommerce retailer. The ideal candidate will be a talented individual with a strong background in PHP development, eager to contribute to the growth and success of our portfolio of brands. Your primary focus will be on the development and maintenance of systems built in Laravel and CakePHP.
Day-to-day of the role:
- Develop and maintain systems in Laravel and CakePHP.
- Collaborate cross-departmentally with Marketing, Graphic Design, Customer Service, Purchasing, Trends, and Production.
- Enhance the performance of eCommerce websites in terms of aesthetics, functionality, and conversion rates.
- Work as part of a team to develop in-house systems that improve productivity and profitability.
- Adopt new technologies and techniques to advance your career and technical knowledge.
- Collaborate with front-end developers and other team members to design functional and cohesive code that enhances the user experience.
- Take the lead on projects as needed.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
- Strong communication and analytical skills.
- Proficiency in object-oriented development.
- Experience with PHP & relational databases (MySQL or similar).
- Experience with MVC frameworks such as Laravel or CakePHP.
- Familiarity with building and consuming APIs.
- Strong attention to detail.
- Ability to work effectively both individually and as part of a team.
- Passion for programming and e-commerce.
- Willingness to challenge the status quo and seek efficiency improvements.
- Experience with code versioning software (e.g., Git, SVN).
