Special Educational Needs Coordinator (SENCO)

Dunbar Education is thrilled to offer an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic and passionate Special Educational Needs Coordinator (SENCO) to join our nurturing, child-focused primary school in Buckinghamshire for 1 day a week.

In this pivotal role, you will lead and manage SEN provision, ensuring that every student receives the tailored support they need to thrive. Reporting to the Headteacher, you will coordinate specific provisions for students with special educational needs and disabilities, overseeing the associated paperwork and compliance requirements.

Key Requirements:

  • National Award for SEN Coordination (NASENCO) or equivalent.
  • Proven experience as a SENCO within an SEN or mainstream school setting.
  • In-depth knowledge and experience working with students with ASD, ADHD, and related behavioural challenges.
  • An enhanced DBS check on the update service or willingness to obtain one is essential.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and organisational skills, with a proven ability to manage a team and collaborate effectively.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage SEN provision within the school, ensuring all students receive the support necessary for their success.
  • Develop and implement tailored strategies and interventions for students with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD), and other associated learning difficulties and behavioural challenges.
  • Collaborate closely with teachers, support staff, and parents to create and maintain Individual Education Plans (IEPs).
  • Monitor and evaluate the progress of students with SEN, adjusting support as needed to achieve the best outcomes.
  • Ensure compliance with all statutory requirements and maintain accurate, up-to-date records.
  • Provide training and guidance to staff on SEN best practices and effective strategies.
