By joining a fast paced and dynamic team as an Investigations Officer within the CS Investigation team you'll have the opportunity to use the experience gained as a qualified accountant to investigate a variety of complex complaints to enforce against those ICAEW members and firms who commit misconduct, break rules or whose work falls significantly below the standards expected of them.

Overall purpose of this role of Investigations Officer

To provide a responsive, professional interface with members and the public to ensure that investigations are conducted to a consistently high standard, in a professional manner and in accordance with ICAEW policies and procedures.

Investigations Officer Responsibilities include:

  • Investigate potential disciplinary complaints to conclusion including obtaining information from relevant parties and drafting a written report on your findings if necessary.
  • Manage your own investigation caseload and take personal responsibility at various stages for the progress through to conclusion of cases, including answering correspondence and telephone enquiries in a timely manner.
  • Ensure high standards of reporting are maintained to provide internal/external stakeholders (e.g. committees, members, the public, other regulators) with an accurate and balanced view of the outcomes.
  • Develop, implement, and maintain effective systems and procedures to support casework including providing regular updates and feedback on own casework as required.
  • Prepare work for consideration by Committees and assist the Committee and Tribunals team to support and monitor the work of the Committees to ensure effective discharge of their responsibilities.
  • Provide assistance and advice in area of specialist knowledge to colleagues across ICAEW as required.
  • Specific duties will vary from time to time in line with the business needs.

Investigations Officer Candidate Profile

Required

  • ICAEW Chartered Accountant or similar qualification.
  • Strong project management skills with the ability to prioritise workloads and manage time effectively.
  • A good grasp of all relevant legislation in area of expertise.
  • Sound knowledge of the ICAEW's Byelaws, regulations, and ethical guidance.
  • Computer literate with a good working knowledge of Word and Excel.
  • Excellent communicator with good interpersonal skills.

Desirable

  • Strong audit technical work experience with excellent attention to detail.
  • Forensic experience including experience of working with information management platforms.
