Allen Lane are delighted to be assisting a Council based in the South East with the recruitment of an interim Head of Finance Business Partnering. This pivotal role will report directly to Deputy S151 and be responsible for the effective financial management of the two key directorates, Place and Corporate. Managing a team of four direct reports this role will be for 6 months initially whilst the council look to recruit permanently. Key duties will include:
Management of a team of Finance Business Partners, making sure that the team has guidance and support where needed.
- Lead on Business Partnering working with Budget Holders to manage their budgets effectively.
- Identify areas of Risk and work with Budget holders to identify ways to make improvements.
- Work with Budget Holders to identify savings and efficiencies where necessary.
- Provide strategic advice and working with services to deliver the councils Medium Term Financial Strategy
- Work closely with the S151 and Deputy S151 to deliver the financial objectives
- Presenting to the Departmental Leadership meeting monthly
The ideal person for this role will be a qualified Accountant who has significant experience in managing a finance team. Experience of Place is essential and Corporate is highly desirable. This role will work closely with the senior leadership team so experience of working with senior leaders is essential as is the ability to deliver strategic advice and objectives.
This role is for 6 months initially and will have a hybrid working arrangement with one day on site in London per week essential.
