Assistant Management Accountant

The Opportunity

An opportunity has arisen for an AAT Qualified or ACA / ACCA / CIMA Part-Qualified Accountant to join K3 in an Assistant Management Accountant role and provide support to the Financial Controller in the production of Monthly Management Accounts, KPI Reporting, Cashflow Forecasting and a range of other areas.

This Job Description is an outline of the principle purpose and main duties of the role. The key responsibilities set out in this profile are not exhaustive and it is anticipated that there will be variations dependant on the requirements of the team/location in which you work.

  • Monthly balance sheet and bank reconciliations.
  • Monthly transactional analysis.
  • Management of Fixed Asset schedule and posting of depreciation to management accounts.
  • Management of prepayments.
  • Management and analysis of disbursements, including import and reconciliation from case management system to finance system.
  • Assistance with reporting and resolving issues with the finance system to support team.
  • Posting invoices to the purchase ledger in a timely manner, when received and ensuring payment terms are adhered to.
  • Raising sales invoices, where requested by operational colleagues. ensuring that they are presented correctly and professionally.
  • Responsibility to report on chargeable time of staff weekly and ensuring records are kept up to date and accurate – i.e., chasing any time not logged.
  • Production, and ownership, of the aged debt report and working with the group credit control team.
  • Further reporting, when required, and assisting with building of reports, where necessary and appropriate.
  • Initial review and authorisation of expenses, ensuring VAT appropriately applied.
  • Setting up new users and closing user accounts for leavers on the accounting system and assisting with any user queries.
  • Assist with queries from operational teams.
  • Ad-hoc projects and reporting as required by Financial Controller.

The Person

You will be an ambitious Accounts Professional able to meet the following criteria:

  • Good standard of general education with passes in GCSE English and Maths
  • Part qualified ACCA/ACA/CIMA or AAT qualified
  • Relevant experience in finance team as assistant management accountant (or a similar role)
  • Analytical skills including good knowledge of Excel (pivot tables and formulas), good knowledge of finance systems
  • Preferable relevant experience within professional services company (desirable)
  • Experience of working on and leading balance sheet reconciliations (desirable)
  • Manages own workload and time effectively, to meet month end and other internal deadlines.
  • Proactive nature to resolve issues and queries.
  • Works effectively as part of a team with strong communication and interpersonal skills, liaising with various individuals across the business.
  • Takes ownership of all work and has a focus on quality.
