A specialist education setting in Great Yarmouth is seeking a Teaching Assistant to join its dedicated team. This role is ideal for someone who believes in a holistic approach to education, where emotional wellbeing, positive relationships, and consistent behaviour support are at the heart of learning.

About the Role:

As a Teaching Assistant, you will play a vital role in supporting pupils with social, emotional, and mental health (SEMH) needs, many of whom have experienced trauma or disrupted education. You'll work closely with teachers, therapists, and pastoral staff to create a calm, safe, and structured environment where every child feels valued and understood.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Build trusting, therapeutic relationships with pupils
  • Support the delivery of a nurturing, trauma-informed curriculum
  • Promote emotional regulation and positive behaviour through consistent, compassionate support
  • Help pupils develop confidence, resilience, and a sense of belonging
  • Work collaboratively with staff to implement individual support plans

We're Looking For:

  • A calm, empathetic, and patient individual
  • Experience working with children or young people with SEMH or additional needs (desirable)
  • A strong belief in restorative practice and relational behaviour support
  • A commitment to safeguarding and promoting pupil wellbeing
  • A team player with excellent communication skills
