Territory Manager Scientific

Our client is a specialised, value-adding distribution business, supplying essential products and services to the Healthcare, Pharma, Life Sciences and Food Sectors across Ireland and the U.K.

They focus on three key sectors In vitro diagnostics (IVD), Scientific and Medical. They are now looking to add an experienced Territory Manager to the Scientific Division which provides specialised products and services to the Pharma, Life Sciences, Food and Dairy sectors.

The Territory Manager role is a field-based commercial position with the main purpose of the role to grow the business represented by existing and future partners for the UK Division's south territory. The role is central to the company's ambitions in driving business expansion into existing and new sectors while ensuring the highest level of integrity is maintained across all business activities and undertakings.

The role will involve a considerable level of engagement with internal and external customers and suppliers. Suitable candidates will be very comfortable in the laboratory areas of Pharmaceutical, Life Sciences, Food/Beverage and any research associated with these sectors.

The role is expected to provide considerable personal development opportunities with ongoing training and front-line exposure to the market.

Please note that due to the territory covered, candidates must live south of Birmingham.

Main Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Complete responsibility for revenue generation and account management in the UK South region
  • Drives business growth to achieve outcomes at least in line with annual budget targets. Builds and maintains strong beneficial relationships with customers and key influencers (KOL's) to drive business development and opportunities
  • Manages growth within existing customer base, as well as generating new business for existing and upcoming products.
  • Able to carry out a market analysis and define competitive landscape, as well as segmenting customers according to application.
  • Develop an effective commercial relationship with suppliers, assisting with monthly/quarterly reviews as required for market activity, and co-ordinating input from the full team as appropriate.
  • Works closely with Marketing to define and continually assess sector portfolio and continually contribute to communicating the "value add" message.
  • Organises, attends and reports on all exhibitions and workshops as required. Participate in demos at those events as required.
  • Champions effective process and utilises CRM as the system of record for customer management
  • Ensures proactive, regular and complete reporting to the Business Manager UK
  • Provide training and technical support to customers on all relevant products through demonstrations and professionally conducted trials.
  • To promptly address product-specific queries and feedback from customers.
  • Provide both remote and onsite support to customers.
  • Work closely with the engineering function to understand how best to address customer requirements with technical and engineering support.
  • Ensuring proper Complaint Handling and documentation in compliance with the Quality System.
  • Ensuring customer satisfaction in coordination with company expectations.
  • Completing special projects where required (e.g. installations, IOQ etc).
  • Keeping up to date on new technologies and developments in the Scientific market and ensuring that this information is readily available for any potential new supplier onboarding process.
  • Work with various teams and external partners to ensure the highest level of customer service.
  • Play an active role in the screening of new potential partners to the company with the management team.
  • Play an active role in the "go-to-market" strategy of new agency launches and work closely with the UK Business Manager and/or Sales Director.

Previous Experience/Qualifications:

  • A University degree or higher in Microbiology, Biochemistry, Chemistry, or Life Science.
  • Significant background in Pharmaceutical, Academia, CRO, Cell and Gene therapy, Food & Dairy, Agriculture & Veterinary in an industrial setting would be considered a key advantage.
  • A good understanding of modern laboratory practices and quality regulations within the research sector.
  • Excellent IT skills with experience in CRM and forecasting.
  • A positive attitude with the drive and work ethic to meet targets.
  • Excellent presentation and troubleshooting skills with the ability to engage fluently with customers and management on a technical basis.
  • Full driving license required.
  • International travel may be required on occasion.

Additional Information:

  • Please note this is a full-time, permanent, remote role with core hours of Monday - Friday 9 am - 5 pm but flexibility is required for business travel.
  • Company car or car allowance.
