Nursery Teaching Assistant

We are seeking a Level 3 Nursery Teaching Assistant to join our friendly team at a local school in Chorley. The role is to start as soon as possible and will continue until Easter, covering a period of maternity leave. This is an excellent opportunity for a dedicated individual who is passionate about contributing to the development and education of young children.

Day-to-day of the role:

  • Assist in the delivery of creative and engaging educational activities for nursery-aged children.
  • Support the classroom teacher in preparing materials and setting up the learning environment.
  • Observe and monitor children's progress, and report any concerns to the classroom teacher.
  • Help maintain a clean, safe, and organised classroom that fosters children's learning and development.
  • Encourage positive behaviour and social interaction among the children.
  • Assist with the supervision of children during playtime and lunchtime.
  • Provide one-to-one support to children with additional needs, as required.
  • Engage with parents and guardians to support children's learning and development at home.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • Must hold a Level 3 qualification in Childcare or equivalent.
  • Previous experience as a Nursery Teaching Assistant or similar role.
  • Strong understanding of the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) framework.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team and under the direction of the classroom teacher.
  • A commitment to creating a nurturing and stimulating educational environment.
  • Enhanced DBS check (or willingness to obtain one).
