Role Overview:
We are seeking a dedicated and passionate EAL Teaching Assistant to join a team of a primary school in Romford starting full-time in September 2024. The successful candidate will work closely with students who have English as an Additional Language, supporting their learning and helping them to fully integrate into school life.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide one-on-one and small group support to EAL students to help them develop their English language skills.
  • Assist teachers in planning and delivering lessons that meet the needs of EAL students.
  • Monitor and assess students' progress, providing feedback and support as needed.
  • Collaborate with teachers, parents, and external agencies to ensure a holistic approach to each student's education.
  • Help create a welcoming and inclusive classroom environment that celebrates cultural diversity.
  • Support students in accessing the full curriculum and participating in all aspects of school life.

Requirements:

  • Previous experience working with children, preferably in an educational setting.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • A patient, empathetic, and understanding approach.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team.
  • A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.
  • Relevant qualifications or training in EAL support (desirable but not essential).
