Our client, a leader in the training & education sector, is seeking dedicated Functional Skills Tutors to join their team at HMP Wandsworth and Brixton locations in London. These permanent, full-time roles offer a unique opportunity to make a substantial impact on learners' lives within a prison education context.
Key Responsibilities:
- Delivering high-quality, learner-focused education to meet contractual and standards requirements
- Developing lesson plans and teaching materials tailored to individual learner needs
- Supporting learners in developing Functional Skills in English and Maths
- Assessing learners' progress and providing ongoing feedback
- Collaborating with colleagues to ensure effective delivery and continuous improvement of the curriculum
- Maintaining accurate records and documentation in line with policies and procedures
- Ensuring compliance with all security and vetting requirements as mandated by the Ministry of Justice
Job Requirements:
- Teaching qualification or subject specialist qualification at Level 4 (Level 5 for new standards)
- Minimum Level 2 qualification in Literacy and Numeracy
- Experience in teaching Functional Skills, particularly in English and Maths
- Strong commitment to improving learners' outcomes and supporting their personal development
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work effectively in a collaborative team environment
- Resilience, adaptability, and a positive attitude towards working in a challenging environment
